Today we’re unveiling the first versions of Gliph plugins for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browsers.

These handy new extensions help you create and send new emails from your Cloaked Email addresses, and make adding privacy to Craigslist and other websites easy. If you aren’t familiar with Cloaked Email, take a moment to review this blog entry.

How to Use the Gliph Browser Extension and Add-on
This section explains how to get started. If you’d prefer to sit back and watch a YouTube video instead, click here.
Both browser plugins work the same way.  First, make sure you’re logged in to Gliph on the web.  If you are not signed in to Gliph on the web, you’ll see a Sign In option when you click on the extension icon.
Click on Sign In to open a new tab and sign into Gliph on the web.  Once you’ve signed in, you can close the new tab and begin using the extension. The new drop-down menu looks like this.

Send a Cloaked Email
Click this item to open a new window to email anyone from your Cloaked Email address. There is a drop-down menu item that allows you to choose the Cloaked Email address you want the new email to be sent from. Notice that the label you gave the cloak appears in the parenthesis after the address. You can update your labels by visting the Cloaked Email administration page and editing your cloaks.

You can upgrade Cloaked Email on your account to allow you to send file attachments directly from the browser plugin.  For more information on upgrading your Gliph account, read this blog post.  Here is a screenshot of what that looks like:

Reply to a Craigslist Ad

The Gliph Chrome Extension also adds items to your right-click context menu. When

you are viewing a Craigslist ad, you can now right-click an email address and choose a specific Cloaked Email address to reply from.  When you do, the extension creates a new email window with the Subject pulled from the ad and a link to the ad automatically added to the listing.

  1. Visit an ad on Craigslist.
  2. Right-click the reply-to email address and Choose “Send to this Address Using Cloaked Email”
  3. Choose the appropriate Cloaked Email address.
  4. A new Cloaked Email window opens with the Subject pre-filled with the title of the Craigslist ad. The body contains a link directly to the Craigslist ad for future reference.

Sign up for a Website or Register for an Event with Privacy
And finally, Cloaked Email is pretty handy for adding privacy to sign up for any website or event registration. The new browser plugins allow you to use a Cloaked Email address instead of your real one simply by right-clicking in the form field and choosing  Insert Cloaked Email.
